Race fuel and ses light

Will running race fuel on stock fuel system cause a ses light? Race fuel was only like 5 or 10 cents more than premium so i figured wtf, i liked the smell of the exhaust with in there better anyway, well about a week later i got a ses light on. the code was somthing about fuel metering. anyone have this prob or got any ideas? Was it leaded fuel? Lead ruins o2 sensors.

im not sure i will have to check, but if it ruined the o2's wouldnt it throw a code for o2 bank 1 sensor 1 or bank 2 sensor 1? i have o2 sims in the rear banks and not a fuel metering code?

I'm not too familiar with OBD-II cars, sorry. I just know leaded fuel is bad for o2s and catalytic converters.

Thanks for the reply that is something i did not think of i will check that, i have no cats or rear o2s but could have ruined the front one i guess.

no its actually better for a motor helps lubricate as it runs... but not sure of how many people have ran leaded gas in a newer vehical... im sure your good just out a O2 sensor...

yep it most likely killed the 02.
I run leaded fuel in my n20 cell but its not enough to hurt the sensors
ohh you can't put o2 sims in the front

Not true anymore about the lead... as the oils we use today get the job done.... Also not sure how you were able to fill with leaded fuel and drive off as i believe its illegal... not 100% sure on that. The lead coats yur O2 sensors eventually making them useless. Yur O2 monitor will fail, which sets a code. How much did you put in the tank?

todays oils "synthetics" are better but standard oil is acctually taking out some important stuff it use to have... building a flat tappet motor is a pain these days because of the crap oil.. eaither you break it in too much with standard oil or not at all with synthetics... all boils down to more EPA bull crap

The o2 sims are in the rear after the cats its the ones in the front that would have got hurt. I put a full tank in lol. time for new o2's i guess. i can clean them with electrical cleaner can i ?

the lead wasnt actually to lubricate the motor...thats been the job of oil from day one. It was to cushion the impact of the valves to the heads before we had hardened valve seats. it doesnt hurt anything other then messing up the o2s. id run some regular premium for a tank and see if it clears it up on its own first
