  • which muffler

ok guys i know a lot of you told me i wouldnt like the sound of my exhaust with LTs and the loudmouth catback. without the cats its not going to work. so im thinking of cutting out the resonator and putting a muffler in its place. i need something that a little quieter at idle but loud as hell at WOT, or close, lol. anyone got something laying around or if someone could point me in the right direction, id appreciate it. the damn car sounds like one of those hillbilly trucks with straight pipes. just cant do it. thanks

yeah but i dont want to change evrything as the setup already looks nice nd works. 2 simple cuts and the resonator is out. not sure how much clearance i have under there for a full size muffler. i may have to look at the bullet type mufflers.

Here's a company I'm thinking about going with for the 80. They have systems for your car too. Seem to be catching on.

          Exhaust systems

          Sounds

They don't have a lot of sound clips, but they aren't what everybody has and I am liking the sound of their stuff.

The Borla XR1 is a really nice sounding muffler and a lot of guys with LS1's swap that into catbacks. For example some guys run the loudmouth, and when added to Longtubes, it gets raspy and REALLY loud, a lot of guys put the XR1 in the I pipe and it works/sounds really well.

im not sure if youve watched videos of jons car or not (phenomic) but his car somewhat fits that description. He has LTs, ORY, bullet muffler, split rear exit. i would say its probably louder than what you want, but it definitely gets really loud under throttle compared to idle. sounds awesome too.

You could always go with a chambered muffler as well. The Classic Chambered Power Sticks or Sweet Thunders sound awsome! I think I am going to hack off my current muffler and throw one or two of the power sticks in its place....pretty much a homegrown GMMG then.

                    Personally i would get Dynomax.
My friend had that, it was a nice at idle quiet and tame, let you know there was a non stock engine in there.
After 3,000 rpms though in WOT that thing sounded awesome
He put a flowmaster on it, and sold it immediatly for it being too loud...

+ 1 for that idea, sounds just like GMMG but a lot cheaper
