Yeah i can hear this bad air noise when im going through traffic from other cars...sounds like shit. i have no other ideas for this noise, but if it can get worse when driving which i wouldnt doubt because air is passing through there and under torque air can be forced through there pretty fast. I could give it a whirl.

yea im pretty sure its your cat. it wont hurt anything being like that, but itll annoy you and not really function properly. When i had mine cut at the shop i told the tech "this is the bad one." He took the saw to it, and as soon as it fell out it spilled some metal "cat dust" out everywhere and was steaming out one end. He was like "yea that was a bad cat all right" I wasnt happy, because they were only two months old. Needless to say i welded straight pipes in their place.

If i were to just weld a straight pipe on, wouldnt the 02 sensors just go off and you would have to do something to the computer to make it so that that SES light or whatever comes off? I have one made, but im not sure what those 02 sensors will do to the car, and my dad doesnt want to test it, lol.

I'd take the cats off anyway just because it's worth it

Would it sound that much better with that cat off on a 6 with flowmaster exhaust? Cause I already have the pipe made up from a muffler shop in town. Just have to do the labor and measuring of doing the right thing, still curious on the 02 sensors and what that will do.

yeah 3.4L doesn't sound THAT great without the cats, but it's not TOO bad. 3.8s can get kinda rattly, do yo already have your mufflers yet? Maybe you can gut the cats and then get something that will work better for your exhaust setup to give you the right tone.

I think i'm just going to get a magnaflow high-flow cat for my car, just going to need instructions on how to install it since the direct fit is still on, is it hard? Pretty sure the cat is the problem...if not, then I'll just keep looking around. haha.

02 sim would be needed with a straight pipe and probably with the carsound cat as well. Or tune the code out with hptuners
