what are your experience with cutouts? Do they make a performance difference or just make it loud? Do they effect backpressure and the way the car runs? Tell me everything you know from your experience please

I have dual cutouts on my new set up. I'll keep you posted on how it goes as i finish the rest of the exhaust. In my application (boost) the power will probably change more than an N/A with the cutouts opened vs closed, also my spool will probably change a bit.

They should give you a few extra horsepower, because its total free-flowing vs running threw a restricting muffler or restricting pipes/bends, etc.

just installed e cutout on my ws6 with ory and qtp headers along with magnaflow catback. Definitly makes alot louder. Some say makes it slower some say faster. Some have dyno sheets for and against it. So really its up to you. Im using mine more as a panty dropper at stop lights.

but they dont effect backpressure enough to mess up with way the car idles or runs, i guess worse off i just always leave them closed

I have a single E-cutout after my longtubes (no cats). Yes, it does affect performance, and very yes does it affect volume. With the cutout closed it seems to have a little more low end grunt: 2250 rpm and under, but seems to 'run out of breath' a little up top. Open cutout you lose that little bit of torque, and it pulls a little harder up top. Granted this is my seat-of-the-pants meter. Word to the wise, a closed cutout will also make your existing exhaust slightly quieter as the pocket it creates sort of doubles as a muffler.

haha, good way of putting it. Mine open cutout has to be WAY over the legal decible limit.

the electronic setup has offered me probably the most fun per dollar ratio of any mod ive done to my car. Just FYI.

the dmh setup would run you 360. but they are best and come with a 4 year warranty. Ive had my single for at least 2.5 years now with 0 problems and i use the crap out of it. setup was really easy if you have basic wiring skills.

i have heard different sides of the story you don't gain horsepower and it will hurt you at the track. however in my opinion i think their there for effect than anything just my opinion.

ive read that the further back the cutout is placed, the more beneficial they are.... not from that article.
