  • Looky what I got for my 'Bird :D

My buddy stepped up to a 90/90, so he sold me his 78MM/Ported TB for about what it would cost for an LS6 intake and ported TB. I'm pretty stoked. I know most people say go for a 90/90, but I don't think it's right for a stock cubed engine that I don't plan on turning over 6300 with. Not to mention it would have been double what I paid for this! I'm planning on porting it a bit and painting the TB black since the green doesn't really match my NBM car. Then I'm going to port the TB that is on my car and sell it to make this an even better deal. I can't wait until all this crappy weather leaves this state and I can finish my mods and drive this thing!

Congrats and don't forget to change the valley cover bolts out first, ask me how I know Also on a side note why don't you plan on taking teh car over 6300? I run mine to 6800 and I'm a stock bottom end H/C car.

Stock rod bolts on '98 cars are weak. I can't afford to replace my engine and with 140K on it, I'd rather be safe than sorry. I did get all the button head bolts so that won't be a problem. As for doing the swap, I am not sure when I am going to do it... I'm waiting on a cam and waiting until I can afford headers. Too much crap to do. Ugh.

Very cool. From what I've read and hear the 90/90 setup isn't worth it unless you're making tons of power and need to move that much air though it. Your better off with an LS6 or the 78 mm setup. Hope it works out for you!!!

Yeah Sean, I got it from Al. He gave me a good deal on it. Got my TR 224 cam in the mail today too. Now that I got a killer deal on some 918 springs ($99 brand new), all I have left is to get pushrods, an LS6 oil pump, and a timing chain. All of which I have located for $150. Just need money now, lol.

The intake was super easy to remove off my buddies car. Took all of 20 mins. Didn't have any issues with the oil pressure sending unit either. Thanks for the offer to help, I am hoping to have my LT's mid march and I want to get everything done at once, so if you're up for it I'd appreciate it! I was bored at work today so I decided to make the intake look a bit nicer, so I repainted the logo NBM with silver accents and then clearcoated the whole thing. Here's a pic:
