they will work with your loudmount catback just fine, but you might find it way too loud and obnoxious. just ask Jeff "Detroit Muscle" because with long tubes, and ORY and the loud mouth, essentially what you have is a strait thru exhaust.Originally posted by turbocreeperWhat do you think I will gain with the LTs and LS6 intake?? timewise and/or hp/tq? just wondering. im hoping it will help out that loudmouth cat back I have. That will still work, right?
maybe Sean "keegoRidah" will chime in, he had his car dyno'd before the cam went in when he had just his long tubes/ORY, LS6 intake and lid. i think it was like 315hp at the wheels or something around there on the mustang dyno at CARS1998 Camaro SS Bullseye Turbo

Greg,
Where did you get your CME tips? I've been looking around for new ones.

Wow...you REALLY want to know where he got his tips don't you??? 3 posts? I know the sites screwy. Greg is one of the lucky ones who bought them while SLP was still producing them back in 01 or 02. I can't remember what he told me. I want a pair as well but they're nearly impossible to find new and the used ones are pretty beat or if they are decent the price is insane. I've seen JUST the tips go for $400+ for ones in fair shape. A guy makes Stainless CME tips but they don't have a lip and don't look quite as nice as the SLP ones do. You're kind of SOL unless you can run across a deal on them.

Patrick, I purchased them several years ago when they first were being installed on the '01-'02 cars. SLP would not sell them to me w/o a VIN # from a car they could verify that originally had the CME installed, and obviously my '98 never had the CME because it was built before CME was invented. I had to trick SLP into thinking I had a wrecked '02 and needed replacement pcs. LOL
. Thank God for eBay and someone posting pictures of a wrecked 35th Anniv. car and VIN #that came originally equipped with a CME exhaust.
The tips were purchased straight from SLP Engineering not SLP Performance for only $82! The plastic valance actually cost more @ $130 believe it or not. With a 15% discount coupon I got the whole setup for under 200 bucks. I believe I was possibly the first to have CME on a '98 car, but now they are not so uncommon unfortunately.
However when I was removing the Flowmaster exhaust and going to install the GMMG exhaust I was going to just buy another $82 tip and have it chrome plated. But when I called they said the tip was a discontinued part and the cost would now be $280!! just one year later. Seesh!! And now people would kill to buy one for that price! LOL I passed on buying the 2nd tip as with the tip, GMMG, and chrome plating it would have cost me $1100 for the setup, so no chrome tips for me.
In hindsight I wish I would have bought another tip or the complete setup back in '02 and sold it on ebay for 3 times as much.
Wade is correct the SS knock-off tips look weak as they have no lip to them and they do not curve with the shape of the rear valance like the SLP ones do. It just looks off with a curved rear bumper and a straight set of pipes. Heck even the Corsa Tips on the wife's car are different lengths to follow the rear bumper better. If I purchased the SS tips I would cut them apart and at least angle them with the curvature of the rear valance.
I would try something like the SpectorWerks tips from Corsa first if I couldn't find a set of SLP tips.

Good luck on your CME search!!

OK guys I found a guy that has a set of Pacesetter LT headers, but were bought for a 00-02 ls1, will they still fit my 98 LS1? Its a good deal and dont want to pass it up, but I just want to make sure they will still go.sigpic

98+ boltons all work for any of those years. If your keeping your egr and air crap you wont want to get the "Racing Style" headers but you will need the ones with the air plugs, if you ditching all that then any style will work.Last edited by sping012; December 22nd, 2006, 11:57 PM.
