  • Fuel injector question

Ok so instead of buying my rims right now, Im going to finally replace my fuel injectors and get my PCM tune. Im looking at the racetronix fuel injectors and Im considering two sizes. either 32lb. or 37 lb.

The only real decider is what my car actually needs, and since IM not that good at this stuff I was hoping for some advice from people that have already replaced theirs.

The engine is currently making around 400 bhp with the stock tune and the max I plan on having anytime soon (or not so soon for that matter) is around 500. I think the 32lbs are large enough but I want to be sure and I have heard you can actually buy too large an injector which screws up all sorts of things....any ideas guys?

Do you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator? That will help in determing which injector size you can use and what you can get away with.

With what you have now for power, 32 or 37's are too big.

Within reason.....too big and you hurt driveability, reliablity and efficiency.

Yeah. It can also depend on if you plan on spraying. If so your going to want to go bigger.

driveability with large injectors these days is not bad.

I have svo 30's at 60psi and they are over 100%dc at 5500rpm/
I would go with svo 42's. gives room to grow

Well I know I have outgrown my stock 24 lb. injectors ( I was told any more then a 60 hp add-on and your pushing it) and the next real jump is 30lbs I just like the non-pintle style of the racetronix and they happen to come in 32 lb instead of 30 lb, but no I dont have a adjustable fuel pressure regulator yet. It is on my to do list though.

Also I do plan on spraying sooner or later but it wont be until I do a short block replacement.

But about how much horsepower is your motor making?

if you run a wet kit injectors can be stock, hell there's a silver WS6 running around with a stock bottom end and stock injectors with a 250 shot

for what it's worth, i have 60# injectors in my car and the driveability is just the same as with the stock ones. my current head/cam setup was maxing out my stock 28# injectors. just depends on your tune really. and if the calibrator knows what he or she is doing. i'm not sure how you are making 400 hp with an LT1 car though? a pretty decent 383 LT1 car through an M6 was only making 360ish i wanna say on seans dyno.....and that's way more then a stock LT1?...

Larry's car off the juice makes less then mine

wait wait...gotta throw the comeback in though...

If you run a wet shot NOS it would just have its own fuel jet so I'd size your injectors so you have room to grow, and yet, dont have such huge injectors that your car wont idle correctly because the injector pulse width is shorter then the injector can handle.

Does your car have a vacuum referenced fuel pressure regulator? Those help with idles as it brings the fuel psi down at idle, and up to norm at WOT.

The LT1 isn't stock ( other then the bottom end) but No way am I making 400 rwhp I meant about 400 at the crank which is why I said BHP and it could even be as low as 370-380. Im guessing really. Last Dyno run I made 300 rwhp and I have no chasis stiffing stuff so I know Im losing alot of HP between the crank and the wheels. but since then Ive done heads, valves, port and polish and a few other things.

I dont have the foggiest idea. So bottom line though I should be fine with 37lbs.?

I tuned a Super Ram 383 (480hp) with 30lbs injectors running at 60psi. Granted this is running the injectors on thier edge but it can be done. I would just bump the pressure up on your 24's until you do some more serious work to that motor...no sense in throwing money away.
