  • Ordered my cam, Wooo Hooo

Well I finally decided on a cam and ordered it. I researched for at least a month. Originally I wanted to go huge (trex, ms4, g5x4, f15,etc) but Joel talked me out of it and I think Im gonna be really happy with what I picked. It is still a pretty good size.

    Torquer v3 231/234 .643/.598 111 lsa.

The thing that seems awesome about this cam is that its got awesome power throughout the lower powerband and still has a crazy top end like some of the bigger cams. It is pretty much identical to the TRAK cam which has an awesome rep (called baby TRex) some people are droppin 430 rwhp cam only on these cams. Gonna lope like mad and be an extremely fun one to drive. The really high lift on this cam sucks every last pony out of the stock heads at the expense of spring life (duals should be fine). LSK/XER lobes too.

I decided to go all out. Dual springs (prcs), Chromoly pushrods, Ported ls6 oil pump, ls2 timing chain, etc. Gonna be a beast. Im thinking about getting hptuners soon as well.

Im soo excited. Probably wont install till xmas break though.

Sweet Jon! Can't wait to hear how it sounds. Mind giving a rough estimate on how much the whole package costs? If I were to ever get an LS1, I'd love to get it cammed while it's out if I have the money for it.

I spent a little under 1000$. I couldve done it cheaper but I wanted to do it right. This is a fairly aggressive cam and I am at the point where I don't have unlimited time to work on the car so I figured id do all the supporting stuff to begin with. You can probably do a cam swap from 500 to 1000$ though. Some of the less agressive ones might just need the cam, a little better springs, and gaskets.

Congrats bro! you'll like cammed LS1 power!!! oil pump is not hard to swap out with a cam swap....i dunno how they are on LT1's joel, but on LS1's when you take the pulley and timing cover off, it just takes like 4 bolts to come off!

I guess I;m the only one that thinks the pump is a PITA. That freakin bolt that connects the pickup tube to the pump in no fun IMO.

How far did you have it dropped? Had mine dropped like 2 inches and it was still a *****.

that's how low mine was, as far as it would go down with the motor pulled up as high as it would go while still in the car and it was a piece of cake? there are like 4 bolts that hold the pump to the block, and then 1 bolt that holds the pickup tube on...it wasn't a problem with the pan down a bit
