  • How to convert 95 lt1 SS hood to function

Hello everyone, tomorrow i am picking up a used OEM SS hood for my 95 lt1. Can anyone tell me what i will need in order to make it functional or is it even possible? Couldnt pass the deal up, its local and $375....
    Thanks,
    Stephen

You would have to find the SS "tuba" airbox and filter used somewhere.

FWIW a cowl hood with an LS1 lid conversion is a much better ram air setup. Doesnt look as cool though I know...

To make it functional you need a 96-97 LT1 SS intake which is a horrible design.

IMO skip the functional part and get a LS1 intake system.

Depends on the CAI, but i wouldnt expect an SS intake to do any better.

The link is to an LS1 airbox. It wont fit under a stock hood or SS hood. It will fit under a cowl hood with some trimming and you also want to use an aftermarket lid with the combo... the stock one is restrictive.

Or, you could do what i did and force the LS1 setup to fit under an SS hood. I don't recommend it unless youre very determined though

Your job looks awesome man, congrats. I may just keep my stock hood and spend the extra cash on motor stuff lol....
                Thanks,
