I am removing my exhaust manifolds. What a pita! Anyone got any tips on how to get at the bolts? Top, bottom, different tools etc. would be appreciated. Getting ready to remove the heads for new gaskets and bolts. The manifolds will be replaced by med length headers, and a new y pipe.
On the passenger side I cant get to the bolt behind the dipstick tube from the top, my arms wont fit in between the wheel well and the head. Hopefully after I drop the y pipe I can get an arm up there to get that bolt.

From some of the reading and research I have done it would sem to give the best compromise of power to drivability. I dont want clearance issues,

Well all this header talk is now up in the air due to a bastardized exhaust system I discovered tonight. Please go see my other thread titled Exhaust Identification Help. All this exhaust system talk is ....exhausting.....

many of the bolts are also accessible from the bottom once the y-pipe is out of the way.

Your best tool is a probably a deep-well 6-point socket used with a breaker bar (3/8" drive handle WITHOUT a ratchet mechanism).
