  • Help pick new exhaust 404 LS2.

    I currently have a 404 ls2, pacesetter 1 3/4 long tubes, ory, e-cutout, and slp dual/dual. Car has a big 240s cam. Cost is a factor/

The current setup is ok but im bored.
The dual/dual is too quiet and not very aggressive.
The cutout just doesn't sound good open. i love having the adjustability tho.

I had a single bullet on the car a while back and loved it.

I think i am willing to try to fab it up myself but this would be the first welding project.

I am thinking true duals over the axle. How hard exactly is it to make custom over the axle projects? Also... would dual bullets be too loud for cruising? Lets vs them against sweet thunder mufflers which are also interesting me. I dont want the setup to be too loud though. I also thought about putting a bullet or sweet thunder muffler in the i pipe right before the cutout to control the open cutout sound mostly.

    Check out my FQuick!

Over the axle true duals are a pain in the ass, expensive, and over rated for our cars. You could sell the dual/dual off for a SLP loudmouth and use a single Borla Stinger in place of or before the SLP resonator. Pretty much use the SLP loudlouth to get well bent straight pipes out the back and replace or incorporate another muffler.....I like Borla stingers.

Orrrrr.....Get crafty and make your Y pipe merge to a single 4" pipe and put whatever muffler of your choice in it in the I section and split it to dual 3" pipes/tips after the axle.

Any clips of a big stroker with that setup? The stroker really changed the exhaust note on this car.

Also, duals over the axle (on either side) arent that bad to do if you have a fabricator with some patience and knowledge of what the hell he is doing.

Bullets sound great but are LOUD, even louder with a big ci motor.

I think GMMG would sound to raspy for bigger cubes

Im guessing it would be similar to any of the Dick Harrell cars or any other GMMG/ Berger car that got a Phase II or Phase III package.

Doh, IDK why I thought I read it was bigger than a 404.

The Dick Harrells use a 244/248 .612/.615 for the six speeds.

I still say look into the duals. Nothing on this earth will sound greater.

My duals are way too loud for cruising (stock cube H/C/I), but they sound great. Tone is unbelievable with good bass, no rasp.

Dual 3" X-pipe into summit bullets with spiral cones pounded into them, dumped before the axle.
Don't have any decent sound clips. Sorry.

                    Used to own a Firebird.

Me too. Then have the exhaust powdercoated black and fill in the dimples in SOM or vice versa. So that when people are behind the car its instantly recognizable.

If the powder coat will stand up to the heat.
