best lid??

Well I'm ditching the lt cai and elbow.... was wondering what you guys are running for lids out there? I want the best performing lid and I've done som research and see a lot. Of guys running the ftp 104mm lid... I plan on running the chrs1313 ram air set up as well... thanks for any input!

Lid is a lid.

I have a 98mm FTP lid and I like it, rubs on the hood though. Battlescars can prove that. But with a bigger lid like that you need a bigger MAF. I have gorilla tape around the lid to seal it a little better.

I have the SSRA to go with it.


I know the bigger C.I guys/ faster cars run the same lid and bigger.

Yea you can scoop up a lid from ls1tech all day long. The lid I had before my FTP was a MTI lid that I paid like $45shipped to my door. Just need to do some search. And look at pictures. Some of the little knubs that insert into the slots like to crack overtime (or from rough housing to much during a simple install). So just beware of that when searching around.

Rolo is right a lid is a lid, bigger the better but if your converting a LT1 and want stock maf then most any that fit a stock maf will work great just get whatever you can find cheapest.

Do you know how big a stock ls maf is? And you still have your ls2 or is she getting the snail put on her this winter?

i have 78mm lid, maf and 95mm TB

I built a 416 car awhile ago. Owner was worried about 78mm maf. So we dyno'd it with and with out the maf(wide open 90mm tb-locked it in SD) Only changed 3hp

hmmm got ya, so seems like the maf isn't a big deal at all then... cool deal then! hopefully this thing breaks into the 14's this spring

I had to do major surgery on my FTP lid to avoid hood crash. I called Fast Toys, sent them pics and told them my problem and they denied any problems with their lids.

I think you could benefit some from a bigger lid/maf setup. The bottom feeder setups have been proven at the track on several occassions I doubt they would make much more on a dyno where there is a large lack of moving air to enter the system. The key is to completely seal off the intake so that it only gets air from under the car and make sure the lid and base and sealed tight as well.

78mm I believe is stock size. I have the LS2 but its coming out shortly, building a junkyard 5.3 turbo setup. Follow it all here

Yep FTP knows the problems with some cars. Mine rubs right where the cross of the T shape where the tape is at. I have to shut the hood very slowly. Such thin plastic, I know it's just a matter of time before it cracks.


Did you seal off around the lid at all? Seems like I have a tiny tiny gap when I put the clips on,couple centimeters at best. Kind of "pushes" the lid back a bit further. which is why II use gorilla tape around it..but doesn't seem to effective.

I'll have an LS1 motorsports lid for sale here pretty quick, I'd let it go for very cheap. Its in perfect shape. Kyle did we meet at no e/t when Bilkos tried to take flight? I was in the back of his truck when we went to go push it up on the trailer...

No, I ground the bottom flat and shaved a little off the sides to make it fit better.
