  • Anyone know what intake this is??

Stumbled onto this intake, and picked it up.

All the guy I got it from knew was it was for a SBC and that a holley carb fit the bolt pattern....

I searched the pattent number, which seams to be the only visible markings on it and came up with-

Broad torque band producing intake manifold for internal combustion engine......lol!!

I was hoping someone might recognize the style and be able to point me in a direction as to what brand and other specifics on this intake. Heres a couple pics-

    I appreciate any info.

Looks to be an edelbrock torker intake or air gap

I need to clean it up still.

Someone took the time to polish/buff it out pretty nice.

            Next question-

Where do I order new gaskets? Do they need to be intake specific?

Should be able to use standard gaskets, AFAIK they're not INTAKE specific, but ENGINE specific, as the intake will mount to the engine in the exact same way, and need sealed in the same places.

                I have been told recently-

That my chevy 305 w/ 601 heads, 274 cam, flat top pistons, headers, 600 cfm holley carb was going to need a higher stahl torque converter than stock and/or a better rear than the 2.41 posi to run this intake.

Any info for me on this? I am all ears- trying to learn a thing or two.......

Can I use it? What are the pros and cons, with my application of this intake?

You can use what you have. Will it be fast? Not really.

                    My main concern is-

Is it going to negetively effect the performance?

My stock intake is UGLY with a capitol G. Its been painted twice and is etched by wire brushes to get the old paint off. Being a 305, I am not trying to make it fast, just look good and work at the same time.

Found a good trade, I think. Some $$ and my choice of-

                      A Torker II
                      Street dominator
                      or a Dart II.

                      Any suggestions?

I am leaning towords the Dart II since its got the air gap.

It's been awhile since i had a second gen trans am.(14 years) But i remember modifying my air lid base so it would fit properly and not bottom out on the intake runners. Also i think you gotta watch the height or the shaker will be sitting to high and hood will not close.
Not a 100% sure why i did modify the air base but i did it on one or two of my T/A's.
