Thinking about getting rid of my catback...

So the guy I bought my car from had done some shabby work installing my Flowmaster catback after removing the cat, so when I installed my headers a few years ago, I tried to clean up the rest some. Long story short, I have run into one particular, recurring exhaust leak and it has driven me to thinking about yanking the catback out of the car and just clamping a muffler onto the y-pipe. Has anyone done this? If I keep the catback, obviously welding it is going to be my solution, however, I started thinking this route for simplicity's sake, and heck, if it sounds good, cool beans.

If you're going to replace the exhaust, either go with custom true duals, or get another cat-back that isn't hacked together. Do it right. You need the exhaust to go out the back anyway, otherwise you'll get high off the fumes when sitting in traffic if it's dumping below the car. . .

I'll have a decent flowmaster cat-back (cut about 1' off the front of it to mount the cutout) I'd sell ya if you wanted to pick it up and have a shop install it for you. . . I have the same problem with recurring exhaust leaks, so I'm actually just going to take it to a muffler shop I trust and have them install my SLP axle-back in a week or so.

Get it welded up once and don't worry about it again.
