Ceramic Coating?

Wanting to coat the LTs.....anyone local do it? If not, where? Figure some of you turbo guys had it done....

Any suggestions or direction is appreciated.

This guy is AWESOME! My father goes through him for his business powder coating. However, he did all my powder coating on my car parts and he even ceramic coated my headers. They turned out really nice.







He powder coated my intake manifold, engine block, k member, control arms, and a lot of misc items. Of course he also black ceramic coated my headers. He is also an owner of a 383 LT1 in his Boss Hoss motorcycle!

x2 QC does excellent work. Tons of guys in the area use them. They did some powder work for me that I was very happy with and I saw a bunch of headers they did when I was there and they all looked great.

They did a set for me a looooong time ago and it was really nice. I guess local is my preference as I would rather not ship these out if I dont have to.

Naturally the brighter, the better, but also looking to gain some benefit (though probably minimal) reduce some of the heat my intake will be ingesting. Probably should give these guys a call tomorrow.

From what I understand, if you're looking for thermal performance then brighter isn't better. A guy I know who does ceramic coating has told me that hardly anyone actually uses the "good" coatings because they're not pretty enough.

Hm. The bright usually fades over time anyway (my Jet-Hot did at least). What I'd be curious about is how much of a temp reduction are we really talking about - coated vs uncoated? Again, probably marginal and one of those "overkill" items but I'd be curious just the same....

They are racers and wont do you wrong. The owner has a mid 8 second Malibu and frequents the bullet.

this is correct to my understanding. A friend of mine uses Swain Tech coating for his C5 (road race car) stuff. He runs stock C5 brakes with hawk pads. he has his calipers swain coated and then just paints them black as the really good swain stuff is an ugly non descript off grayish color. People he races with ask how the hell he gets away with stock brakes when everyone else is running bigger aftermarket brakes yet he's always at the front of the pack and his brakes don't fade much over a race.

For a short while I owned a set of stainless headers that were coated in Swain Tech White Lightning exhaust coating. I never ran them because I ran into clearance issues, but just by handling them you can tell the Swain Tech stuff is the real deal. The stuff is way more durable in for getting banged around, and it's a much much thicker coating than your traditional ceramic coatings and is kinda gritty. The guy that bought them off of me ended up painting over the coating and it looks pretty good from what I can tell from a picture.

There are obviously coatings other than just Swain Tech's that are still much better than the traditional shiny ceramic coating. Most of them tend to be dull colors though like mentioned. Depending on the theme of the vehicle it can work though, the guy who was telling me all this has a drag bike that has sort of an industrial theme and tons of stuff has that dull coating to it and the bike looks awesome.

Yeah, mine hazed over, but I don't really care, my header is on the back of the engine, and all I got the coating for was for helping in rust-prevention.
