port or aftermarket

I was woundering, is it worth taking the time to port and polish my throtle body, or should i buy an aftermarket one? if i should port how much should i hog out i dont want to ruin it lol. ive already ported and polishied my maf and insted of removing the center divider i knife edged both sides. if i should go after market what size? the bigger the better? i have the ls6 intake. i searched for this info on a few diffrent sites and could not find anything.

im on the same boat as you right now, i can't figure out if i want to port or buy a different one, some input on here would be great

I ported mine for the hell of it. I took out quite a bit of metal and i did feel a little difference for sure. I heard some people had gains of up to 8rwhp by porting the stocker. I figure the ported stocker will work for me unless i do a crazy h/c/f.a.s.t. setup.

My TB was ported at/by KaTech in clinton twp.

it was $150, previous owner of my car had it done...

i dunno the cost of new TB's but that's their price to port 'em

one of the magazines did a test and found no real gain (less than the varience of the dyno) without heads, cam and intake

the 70mm LS1 and LS6 intake plenums can;t move mroe air then the 70mm factory throttle body can supply. we've been nipping on 500rwhp with 383 strokers with factory 70mm non ported tb's.

I say port it yourself or send it to one of the guys on LS1tech that do it for $75.
