  • Cut out or....

so i have a 95 formula(bone stock everything), i bought it two weeks ago and have been driving it non stop. I got in my truck today for the first time since i got the birf and started it and realized how quiet my car was....(has no cat and magnaflow muffler) kinda made me sad that my truck was that much louder. So i wanna do something somewhat inexpensive but wont sound horrible. I was thinking about a cut off, i do tend to put my 9 month old baby in the car, this way i can be quiet and loud when i wanna play, but a nice muffler would make me happy too and probably the police also. Any opinions? not lookin to spend more than like 150 and not really lookin for a catback... mods will b for next summer after i get rid of my camaro

Also, can anyone tell me what size cut-out id need if i wanted it right in front of the rear axle, or what size muffler id need to replace the oem one? it looks like the pipe gets smaller the further it goes back

if you want advice on this. best i believe is going to be is save up and wait till you guy buy the right things. hell for 50 bucks you can make a cut out that you have to crawl underneath and unbolt the plate. but i would suggest if you want sound. wait a buy a set long tubes. ory-pipe e-cut-out and a nice muffler out back. but thats gonna cost wayyyyyy more then 150 bucks

ive never heard a cutout on a stock manifold car but it might sound ok. id say right before the rear axle. leave the muffler alone until you can put a cat-back exhaust system on it. idk what stock piping size is but u could prob buy like a 2.5 cutout and have a muffler shop weld it in.

cut outs on an unbuilt motor would sound like one of those junky cars with the muffler that fell off, just not good imo. no rumble or cam. just BLAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, THEN YOU WOULD GET HEY DUDE FIX YOUR MUFFLER, OR BUILD THSAT THING. try a raven muffler, or flowmaster 40. i had a raven on my 3.4 and it didnt sound bad at all.

Get some mods worth some HP. A cut out is gonna sound like crap.

alright... i wasnt sure of how the cut off would sound. but i was plannin on doing an e-cut out. moneys just tight lately as im sure it is for everyone so a full catback thats actually legit isn't much of an option. just want it to have some kind of a rumble... i did a fly by my buddy an he said all he heard was the wind an the tires squawk lol. anyone know what the stock size muffler piping is? i have a shop who said they'd remove the cat put a test pipe in and weld in a new muffler for 75 bucks just dont know what muffler to use

When I got my camaro it had a flowmaster muffler on it and the rest of the exhaust was stock. A few people actually complimented me on the way it sounded. I've found that youtube can provide alot of sound samples for various exhaust setups.
