  • New Cam Time

so i got my new and improved cam the other day.

ordered a custom grind from Sean at CARS. it's a decent size

anyways i would have some pics but my camera batteries took a shit, so i'll take a few tomarrow...

i was on my way to an easy cam swap, took off the coils, valve covers, rockers, and upon removing the rockers the 8mm socket fell off the ratched (little ball that holds it in....well it wasn't doing it's job) so the little bastard 8mm made it's way down through the head and into the lifter galley...thus making me remove the passanger side head just to get the mother ****er out...which pissed me off cause it was a waste of about an hour and now i need to get some new head bolts and a new GM MLS head gasket....anyways. got the head off and the socket out. had to remove the intake obviously....

then continued to remove the radiator and the water pump, and decided to call it a night. i probably would have been most of the way done if i didn't have to remove the head!!!!

pics will be up tomarrow....oh and sunday sean threw my car on his dyno and it put down 381, so i have a "baseline" so to speak with my car as it sat and seans dyno....can't wait for some new numbers. should be fun. will probably get it back on the road or atleast to CARS for a tune by tuesday or wednesday at the very latest!!!

ehh....not really....i was out at woodward earlier this afternoon with my buddy andrew...most call him "Lucky"...as it's his last name well Lucki but whatever...he's got an '04 cobra that he put a whipple blower on and a 75 shot. putting down 590 on the blower and 650 on the juice....he walks all over my ass all day long and it sucks

his car rips his 315 Nitto DR's to pieces even rolling into 3rd gear!!!

one day i'll have a faster car but until then...it still sucks going out cruise'n with him

but for a street car and an everyday F-Body....it get's along pretty well!

Yeah i bet! that term pay to play goes 100% along with these cars...and it bites lol. But naturally aspirated 400wrhp with our cars i think is a pretty nice achievement, and im guessing you pay for everything yourself...

Sounds like a typical "simple" swap lol sorry to hear about that Matt, now you have to do the ever dreaded tampon method of cleaning the bolt holes which is the worst part. If I can swap out my fuel filter and get the g/f moved in I'll probably stop by Sean's place to have my car checked through as well hope you hit 400.

you should have tried one of the 99 cent magnet sticks from autozone or something... the tiny ones that extend... id id the exact same thing but a battery with my flash light i was using fell into a whole on the lifter valley allt he way down to the bottom of the block... i could still see it so tryed the magnet... my luck the battery wasnt magnetic at that end so i had a small 3 foot long drill bit and without hitting anything lucked out and pulled the battery out without ripping the rest of the motor apart... the battery barley fit through the whole in went in and out of... knomes were at work for that one... tricky bastards... hope everything works out for ya

yeah...400+ would be nice....pretty much the limit of LS1 head/cam cars is 450ish hp though....my heads are not the greatest....they're basically stock heads machine CNC ported with larger valves...but we'll see what happens!

yeah i pay for everything myself, so it takes longer for me to modd....rather then mommy and daddy opening up the check book for everything....

haha yea Jeff....after i spent like 15 minutes "fishing" the socket out....i was like "**** it...here we go again" so yeah i actually took my shop-vac to try to "suck" as much of the crap out as possible. but i'm still gonna have to go through and clean all the holes and use the thread chaser...what a pain in the bum!

a local guy who goes by v-10 killer only hit 450 rwhp at cars, and he's on a fully built 402 h/c/fast intake... so if you can put down 400 then that's AWESOME! The torque curve of the 402 was FLAT though... it was like 450 dead accross the board!
