  • Looking to have an exhaust put on

I'm looking to have a 2.5 x pipe set up put on my Firebird here in the next few weeks, Haven't called anywhere around the Lapeer area to see if they can do it or if I have to order one. Anyone have suggestions for a good shop that will be able to do it? and maybe a approximate cost059.JPG I have these magnaflow specialty bullets to put on.

2.5" true duals on a stock 3.4? Sounds a little excessive to me. . .

Call up whoever you trust to do exhaust work (or a shop that has a good reputation), and ask them if they would give you an estimate. I got an estimate of $150 plus the cost of mufflers to do a 3" TD setup on my Formula by the shop I always go to for exhaust work, I think that was a low estimate though. Most shops would charge around $150-$250, depending on how you want it done.

Maybe excessive but from what I have now is being held together with JB weld/Duck tape and wire so it's defiantly time before I start driving it more than just around town. What I'm hoping to achieve with it is something like this set up . My dad had his dual with glass packs for his 57 truck put on by Muffler Man in Lapeer and that was just around $150 just for the piping and it was a custom job cause it didn't have a system for them to go by, so I don't think it would be too bad of a price if it will run me around the $150 mark but that was just dual pipes without the crossover.

My brother built a set of true duals for a v6 last year, major PITA to get it over the axle, and to minimize rattles.., At the end of the day it sounded like a tractor at idle and like pure CRAP anytime it was in the throttle... I just think loud exhaust v6's have a ricey sound (Yes my old v6 with a loudmouth exhaust on it sounded like crap anywhere aside from idle).

I really don't want a rice sound but if it will sound better than what I got and close to that clip, I'll take it, cause it just sounds horrible as of now and it all needs to come off. Anyone got got a good sounding set up for a v6????

best sounding is a V8 camaro or firebird factory dual exhaust. It is very quiet, but honestly, it is the closest thing I've heard to a V8. I had my old v6 very modded and a LOUD exhaust, I sold all the parts and threw that on just before selling it.. it was the best the car ever sounded..

Best your going to get for a 3.4 is a LT1 or LS1 stock exhaust...

I have one I'd be willing to sell..just taking up space in my storage unit. Removed it from the 00' TA.

We'll see what I get for an estimate from Muffler Man before I go scrapping. I got your number Rolo

I will also say, when I havd the 3.8l I had a hooker aero chamber on my car, then a blowmaster, and finally the muffler off of my neighbors 1999 SS.
The SS take off sounded the best and was free.
It still is sounding good with my LT1

i just had a single 2.5" to a 2.25" Y, from the cat back on my GXP. i provided my own muffler and tips, and they charged $210 at muffler man in mt pleasant. so basically a new exhaust the length of the car. the guy told me when you supply the mufflers/tips they work at $70 an hour
