Starting to tear down the 305, but deciding what intake to go with, whether edelbrock high flow tpi with intake manifold or holley mini ram, or the slp intake runners. Not sure which one is the better bang for the buck, and also tryin to decide which headers to go with to help wake up this little thing. any ideas on either would be greatly appreciated.

Tentative plans for my car include Hawks Stainless Works long tube headers and y-pipe, ported plenum and SLP runners (www.corvetteplenum.com), larger throttle body and last but not least EFI connection's LS1 PCM kit.
Those mods should give me a decent boost in torque and the LS1 PCM should make future modifications easier to cope with i.e. heads/cam/stroker kit. My TA won't be a 1/4 mile road bomb until the ZR-1 is done, but that's the end goal.
If you want a good, inexpensive bump in HP, find a stock 350 TPI motor and bolt that in. A 350 gives you aftermarket options a 305 can not. I made a lot of HP with my old 305 but it took a lot of money and a big supercharger. In hindsight, a 383 or 406 would have probably made the same power for the same cost or less.
One piece of advice from a previous t-top owner, mod #1 should be weld in subframe connectors. If you haven't done that, leave the motor alone until you do.

Yep, get a 350, then follow Super Chevy's Stealth TPI build guide...

Sure he can...just got to be easy on it.Originally posted by Gaspo View Postcant keep the 5 speed if he switches to a 350 tho...
As far as intakes go....the stealth ram is one of the best power maker intakes for these engine. However, if it were me I'd remove everything that is bolted to the TPI and replace it with a LS series motor.sigpicTurbo Charged LS1/T56

Tisk tisk, James. LS this and LS that, you're going to miss out on the TPI renaissance one of these days and you will probably be very sad about it.Originally posted by WMCCjames View PostSure he can...just got to be easy on it.

Yep he cant keep the 5 speed, he can build one to handle the power too. I know someone running around with a built 350 pushing 400hp to the wheels with a stock t5 been running strong for 2 years... Someone else once told me, just dont hook and you wont break it! That was my plan get a 350 and bolt it up to the 5 speed until it broke...sigpic

Nope, I won't miss it one bit Matt. Let's see, low revving boat anchor to high revving power maker.Originally posted by scholtmj View PostTisk tisk, James. LS this and LS that, you're going to miss out on the TPI renaissance one of these days and you will probably be very sad about it.

well i have a lt1, the block is still 350, so would tpi heads with a stealth ram intake bolt up to the block, or is the head bolt pattern different?

Everything is differant. LT1 has reverse flow cooling. Screw the TPI intake. If you have an LT1, go with a complete LT1 swap. Eric L
