  • A.I.R. Injection removal on LT1....

Looking to make some room in the engine bay and I want to remove the A.I.R. system on a 95 Trans Am LT1 with 70k stock engine (for the most part)....

has anyone done this and what all is needed for the removal?..... what kind of effect on performance will I notice?... and also will it throw a code and/or make it run like crap without a reprogram?

just looking for some insight from someone that knows what I'm getting myself into....

You will notice NO improved performance. IIRC it will throw a code for the airpump, but I dont think it will throw a check engine light. I believe the ports in the exhaust manifolds are 3/4 ntp thread. And the AIR pump is located low on the drivers side. Pretty easy mod. Now, if you delete the EGR with block off plates, it will throw a code from my experience. Being yours is a 95, tunercats is a cheap purchase, and a good thing to have around with an OBD1 car. Good luck, Eric L

Since my headers are Race headers I just disconnected the AIR pump and pulled the relay from the fuse box. I will remove it when I drop the K Member this winter but my SES light is not on.

I've wanted to do this too for some time but there's two things stoppping me. For one, I don't want the car to burn up the cats. The last thing I want right now is to deal with clogged converters. And two, this thing is (unfortunatly) my daily driver - and does still need to be smogged. No way thats happening if I pull all that out. And I don't fathom taking it all in and out every 2 years just for a smog test.
