  • LS1 air box on LT1 car question!

I have done a ls1 swap into my 96 RS and the LT1 K&N I put in the car is restrictive in numbers when the car went on a dyno. I remember a "how to" on putting in the ls1 air box when I started this swap, but I cant find it now. I remember having to notch the core support, but the additional parts needed have slipped my mind. Any pictures / links to related info would be very helpful.

      Edit: I found this link - http://www.lt1engine.com/tech/ls1-li...k-camaro-hood/

That's for an LT1, motor. Not sure if there is a write up on an LS motor in the LT1 style car? (I know that's being pretty specific)

Dood, you should have checked my car out at the dyno day, I couldve showed you everything! Where is east china that still might be easier. I had a VERY detailed write-up on my website but im resolving some hosting issues right now so until I build a new website and restore the database its basically gone for the time being LS1 or LT1 should be the same basic procedure, the entire challenge of it is getting it to clear the hood!

I should of checked it out! I was kinda all over the place getting some info about the fuel filter setup, and figuring out why my car did so horrible on the dyno. I didn't get on the dyno until late so it was not a concern until most everyone was gone. East china is basically in between Port Huron and Chesterfield. I'm pretty much a couple city blocks out of St. Clair (but most people look at me funny when i try to describe where I'm at) I get the "OH.. St. Clair Shores?"

Ahh ok, that will work then. I can drive by sometime towards the end of the week, i think we are planning on starting to work on the car Sunday. If my uncle can get the scanner tool from the dealership he works at to test the O2's and MAF. I gotta find my 50hp I'm missing! lol

I'd rather not cut up my perfect engine bay, It's the best part of my car lol

Also joel Didn't you mod the hood to?

How much horsepower did it make on the dyno? And how were the A/F readings. Eric L

Yes steve, cut the core support and the bottom of the hood. And for the gain it gave me id do it again.

no idea what my A/F is, I guessed on my tune 2 years ago and its been the way it is ever since. dyno'd 373 RWHP and 352 RWTQ

Why does the core support have to be cut? I mean the core support is identical between LT1s and LS1s so is it just because of where the LT1 sits compared to the LS1?
