  • Thinking about buying a bbk 52mm throttle body?

How much would a 52mm bbk throttle body help me out? i broke my stock one and i really wanted a
58mm but i can find a cheap one...but i can get this 52mm bbk for 160shipped to my door is it a good
idea with my ported heads and intake? or should i just get an oem replacement? Also would i need to
get the intake matched for a 52mm? im thinking i might have it matched to a 58mm anyways encase
i ever decide to get one. What are your thoughts guys? or should i just get my
intake matched to a 58mm and just wait it out till i get the motor all back in
because my friend has a stock one i can borrow/have if need be.

    Thanks,
    Nick

i got my BBK 58mm for 40 dollars, then again it needed work and a paint job the flange was Cracked so no clamps could be used, I'm pretty sure its a 58mm, But i hogged out my intake manifold like crazy to get it to align up, and wow lots of missing metal now hahaha

my throttle response went way up, and the motor seemed to love the air it was getting, also i had to cut and adjust my tps it was a pain in the ass, maybe if im around i can give you a hand with it. otherwise your shifts will be toooo early or late, or like mine i lost 3rd and 4th gear till i got it right, didnt know i needed to adjust stuff lol. and idle... but now that its all timed in and all i love it. i have the edelbrock BBK one.

also don't listen to anyone saying BBK's suck, i'll take a BBK over Holley throttle bodys alllll day long, they flow better and just plain look way more bad ass.
and mine is 10 years old or so, and the spring still work so i dont have a sticky throttle problem like a lot of guys say with there bbk's.

plain and simple if you want a Throttle body, Why go 52mm, go all the way if your spending that to a 58mm, or go on ebay and get a stock throttle body ported to a 58mm, but they need a core in return...

heres mine, i do believe it is a 58 its monstrous.
for some reason the guy did a lot of dumbass mods to it, bent the throttle bar, and flipped the plates upside down.

I heard there not very good for stock applications, Only cars that actually need them.

I ran my stock throttle body for a long time and had no issues. till a little while ago when i got more addons. also was the throttle position sensor right? otherwise it'll drive slower then crap.

Thanks for the offer Steve i might take you up on that sometime! i think im gonna port the intake out to a 58mm while its out and use my buddys stock tb but if i decide to go with the 58mm after its a simple plug and play i might wait till i go ls1 front end this winter and get the slp lid so the 58mm is an awesome idea.
