  • LPP Headers, 6LiterEater Header Buy-In maybe...

Well I contacted Mark at 6LiterEater and he said the manufacturer stopped producing the headers and Y-Pipe he had. I'm waiting to see if possibly I could do a buy in if any other members are interested in these headers.

If not I was looking at the LPP headers. Anyone running these?

I have LPP headers and I <3 them. The first time I installed them I had plenty of clearance - I also had brand new motor mounts and transmission mounts. After about 80 miles I had to tear the engine out again because I had two spun bearings and when I reinstalled the LPPs I had less than an 8th of an inch of clearance. So don't get too hung up on the clearance negatives that you'll read about LPPs - the slightest changes to the headers, your engine & trans mounts, how you angle the exhaust, etc will affect how much clearance you have.

I do not like PaceSetters. In the Saturn community they are called Shitsetters. They rust out, tolerances are horrible, they whistle.

well in the f body world they fit pretty damn good, coating works well and are all around a good buy for the price. Do what you want though.

People told me at a FBody meet Sunday they had nothing but fitment issues with them. They had to pound or cut a cross member to get them to fit.

hmm must have had them confused with the LPP's. Pacesetters are an easy install. Im not gonna try to pursuade or argure with you either way, its not like I own the company. Just giving you my advice since ive been there/done it many times.

the lpp we just put on the k member had to be cut. engine mount and stand moved forward, couple MM cut off the starter boss then they still hit.
they also forgot to include all the hangers for the true duals. there is also a huge dent in the top of the #3 primary(said it sometimes happens when the bend them) but tried to blame me until i asked if they wanted to see the sanding marks on the inside of the pipe .

I didn't have to do anything to get my pacesetters on my formula. Slid right in and bolted right up. No bloody knuckles so I say they were a good buy.

Every set of pacesetters including my own I have installed have fit great. Hell I ran mine uncoated for 3 years and they just had a bit of surface rust. I sandblasted them and sold them and the new owner is still using them with no problems.

LPP fitment has everything to do with the engine and setup than the headers themselves. They're made on a jig and each set is identical. The problem is that every engine is not identical - sag from the engine mounts, trans mount, even the angle of your intermediate pipe is going to affect how much clearance you have with the headers. The problem that LPP has is that they're made to fit tight against the car whereas Pacesetters give you a bit more clearance. I'd still rather do stainless steel than pacesetters any day of the week, though. When I put my LPPs on the second time and had no clearance, I actually got a little more clearance as I worked on the intermediate pipe.

I have installed 2 sets of Pace Setters, 2 sets of LPP's, and 3 sets of Hookers and I'll tell you right now that I will NEVER buy an LPP header EVER!
Pace Setters or Hookers are the best out there for fitment and I have not had any issues with either.
Like Ryan said, the Coated headers hold up well!
I have had my Hookers for almost 8yrs and they are still in great shape!
