Ok,
so I've been in the process of trying to get my car to run good.
last summer, I couldnt keep the car idleing, if I did, it was at a high idle, it wouldnt stay running below say 1200 rpms, my car also has low vacuum, I guess its due to the cam?
anyways, I was reading up and decided to swap out my power valve for a smaller one, when I took the bowls off the carb, it was kinda gross in there, I cleaned the whole thing and put the new power valve in, now it runs and idles at 900rpms.
If i rev the engine up slowly it revs nice and smooth, no problems. the problem im having is if i rev fast, it falls flat on its face almost, my guess is that it is getting too much air, and not enough gas. adjusting the fuel mixture screws doesnt seem like its helping at all.
the carb is a holley 670 cfm aluminum street avenger vacuum secondaries, electric choke, the cam im using is a comp cam thumpr cam, the distributor is a msd pro billet vacuum advance, and the fuel pump is a stock style carter.
I don't know what my timing is set at exactly, i shoot a timing light on it and I cant even see the mark, i dont know if thats a good thing or not :\
i guess im kinda thinking that my accelerator pump isnt giving me enough fuel, would a different cam help?
