Carbs are a cost effective way of making power and contrary to what some people think they are quiet a sofisticated device. If you want to learn how to tune them come inside. I am just learning but will offer any knowledge I have.

I don't like carbs either (we bolted injection to a drag car and went from 11's to 10's with easier tuning)of course now when I run carb I run a 1 barrell 8)

Every old guy that weighs 300 lbs and drinks beer can tune a carb! Now how many of em can tune EFI?

any that can work a keyboard, but few people can actually tune a carb correctly (it can't be done by ear no matter what you've been told) that's why I like my 1 barrell carb (hte one I have in storage somewhere outflows any carb on the street just about)

Anyways, I have a bunch of carbs now, I have rebuilt a few and I am learning to tune the things. I have a pile of holley 4 barrels, 600, 750's 780, all are vacuum secondaries. I have a few q-jets(only good for gas millage and loosing their tune) and I just picked up an edelbrock 600.

Yeah I worked on a holley in Jen's dad 64 Tbird. It was a pain. Take top off carb, adjust floater, put top back on, start car, not good enough, take top off, adjust floater, put top back on... Yeah Carbs can be a pain!!!
