cat delete

anyone know a shop that will do it for cheap?....and any opinions welcome..will it throw codes sound crappy etc...i have only a catback slp LM(dont mind the noise)..

I have standard exhaust manafold, no cat, and flowmaster. Sounds very nice and very mellow not raspie or annoying.

You'll have to find a way to delete the rear O2 sensor, or it will throw a code. There's a simulator you could plug into the lead, or you can have it deleted from the computer altogether.

This is only the case for OBD2 vehicles (96+) - 93 to 95 do not have rear o2s.

Most places aren't going to do it - or won't advertise that they do it - because it's against the law and they can get fined for it.

That said - if you cut the cat off yourself using a sawzall, an exhaust shop *should* be able to weld in a straight pipe...

I agree with Brian MOST places wont do it and if they will it will be under the table. That being said I know of a few shops around me that will do it and do it cheap and weld the straight pipe up there, but that involves going to 8 mile or even south of it

He's from Taylor - I think he can handle going to 8 mile or south of it...

Yeah most shops will say they cant remove the cat, but other then that they can do anything once its off. At least thats what I have heard. But I am buddies with a midas maneger so they give me awesome deals and offer to remove the cat, haha.

Haha I didnt look to see where he was from but even some of the places I know its still a little well "shady" but I have my cats taken off there on a number of my cars...

Then there are a few shops that would do it, Brownies on 8 Mile by John R is who did mine last, see the old guy he'll take care of you. Big yellow building cant miss it but pay cash and leave quick

just from my memory...doesnt the stock pipes merge together right before the catalytic converter...how do you weld in a single straight pipe?? Seems like you would have to run true duals if you cut it off without replacing it with some sort of Y pipe in its place.

They do merge right in front but there's like three inches of pipe after the merge...should be able to chop and slap the straight pipe in without a problem
