  • exhaust question, ls1 setup

has anyone heard (if the setup is possible) what long tubes, no cats and a stock muffler sound like on a ls1? found a decent deal for the stock exhuast, but not sure its possible. i know i would have to merge the two different pipe sizes. thanks.

Easy stuff, and its really quiet. I would compare it to having magnaflow with stock manifolds.

that sounds good. i just want it to be more quiet than it is now (lt headers, no cats and loud mouth 1) but not as quiet as the factory exhaust.

Lol, it will be 10x quieter than it is now. You have about the loudest possible exhaust system on it right now. If you want to go quiet and keep performance, I would go the magnaflow route, or maybe even a dynomax. They are both known for being very quiet, and flowing very well. Or, you could get a stock exhaust system, and out an electric cutout in it. A member on here picked up almost 40 rwhp when switching between the cutout and the stock exhaust. Granted he has a very modified engine, but still you get the point.

I have longtubes, no cats, and magnaflow on my car. Its SUPER quiet. I'd say just a touch above stock loudness but barely. I had the loudmouth 1 on my old v6 car and that thing was ANNOYING, you'll be happy with longtubes and a stock exhaust. When you want it louder just do what I did and get an electric cutout. Nice and quiet cruising, then when I mean business cutout opens up and the children run for cover

Dont know about st claire shorees but off 696 on groesbeck is a place called Diamond fabrications, they mostly do mustang stuff but they did a reallly good job on my camaro, can do ANYTHING custom and prices are reasonable for sure. Give them a holler.

                    I can vouch for this
Nice ride and not very loud at all.
