Aluminum dissipates heat alot faster but also warps easier, it's a softer metal in general. I'd stick with some Z heads.

the aluminum LT1 heads are a different style head than the iron LT1 head on the caprice all together.

the heads used in the b-bodies were designed after the Vortec heads used in 96-98 full size trucks... which are known for being the best flowing SBC heads. So, the iron heads outflow the aluminum heads. However the aluminum's ability to run higher compression, and with the weight savings - gains are pretty much negated and they end up performing similarly.

If they had made an aluminum casting with the votec design, that would be the way to go.
