  • exhaust heat sheild question

ok so we started on my dual exhaust today and kinda started looking at thing and my drivers side pipe will be running right by my fuel lines... what would be the best way to sheild it so it doesn;t absorb all the heat from the exhaust?? any other ideas are welcome i just don;t know what to do other then maybe wrap the fuel line in header wrap

I'd wrap them both in header wrap somehow just to try and keep the heat away as best as possible.

Yeah, header wrap and something like this, maybe: http://www.heatshieldproducts.com/heat_shield.php

      Might be overkill, though.

If you are good at tin work you could make a heat shield ???

reroute the fuel lines....that's what I did. Cut the steel line back short and use braided stainless lines to run more up in the trans tunnel area. The you can secure them with adel clips...gets the line up high and out of the way of everything.

lemme know if you come up with a heat shield idea of some sort. I also need to shield my rear seat well from the cutout exhaust that is right in front of it! lol

you really dont need to worry about that unless you have it aimed right up into the floorboard.

Never hurt mine...but it kinda just used the floor as a natural turndown - wouldn't cause excessive heat...

yea I'm still undecided, I might just make a turndown directly after the cutout to shoot the exhaust downward, last thing I want is to either get that seat area too hot or trash that metal there in time.

derek i had mine aimed straight at the rear seat bulge for years. Carbon would collect there, but it would wipe right off with a rag and some WD40. The only time anyone ever noticed anything is if they were sitting in that seat (weight on it) in unmoving traffic and i had the cutout open... which has been all of about once in the last 4 years or so.

Let us know how that works, I was thinking about doing the same thing but with header wrap on the lines and pipeing

did you put the mufflers under the floorboards or under the tank (aft of axle) ?
