Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

i have a 96 camaro with an ss package, i would really like to put headers on my car but i cant afford it. My question is, if i order and off road y-pipe will it fit on my stock manifolds or do i need to get a custom one?
if anyone is selling a y-pipe and/or SLP exaust im looking
The y pipes will be different. you can always pick up 1 piece at a time and hold on to them. But typicly places will give you a better deal to do everything together. When your ready let me know. Ive spent ALLOT of time researching this in the last 3 weeks.
yea but my car has 86k miles on it and im affraid its too old to put long-tubes on it...only way i can afford it to do it myself and im affraid ill snap a bolt...the car is also a daily driver as well so i cant afford to not drive it for more than two days...this is why i was just planning on doing a mid pipe and exaust instead of headers
thats nothing for miles... just make sure you spray everything with penetrating oil and they all should come out just fine.. beleive me 86k miles is not to old to put a full exhaust on
My car has 110 k and my headers are going on this weekend. You can buy pacesetter coted headers with a ypipe for $500. Otherwise just do a nice cat back system.
yea i guess your right, everyone tells me that, i gotta do an opti spark and a tune up too pretty soon...everytime i get enough money saved up to buy exaust or any aftermarket part for that matter something goes wrong with my car...the only aftermarket things i have done are things i've fixed lol...is texas-speed the cheapest place for pacesetter headers and a y pipe?
not nec. i found them at a few places around the same price. the problem is there is a high demand and they are on backorder everywhere. i ended up going with jet hot headers wich are designed by hooker and a hooker y pipe for like $750
is there anywhere online where i can get a step by step process for installing headers? my buddies and i know mostly what we are doing, i just wanna be sure i dont forget anything
You have to remove the starter and Alt. for starters.
Are you planing on deleting your AIR & EGR system?
If you are that stuff can come off.
Once you get all that done you will have to loosen one of your motor mount screws.
Then get a jack under the car and remove the other motor mount screw.
Jack the motor up a bit and start sliding them in.
It's a lot of work and with out help it will take you all of one day and maybe 2 depending on how comfortable you are working on your car.
The other part you have to think about is what do you want to do for exhaust after the Y-pipe???
The Y will be a 3" and your stock exhaust is 2.75.
I would suggest buying a CAT back system that is set up for a 3" system.
It's also a good time to do a cutout if you want one?

doesnt sound too hard, just gonna take some time, i am planning on gettin rid of the EGR system, its blown anyways. Now when i remove the EGR system will it still trigger the service engine light? if so can i tune it out or do i need some sort of eliminator?
Another thing too, when i do the headers i plan on doing my optispark and a tune up, do i have to take the water pump off to access the optispark?

As long as you keep a good fuse in you should be fine but you will want to get it tuned any way after the LT install.
You will want to get block off plates for the EGR and AIR spots on the intake and you can get those off Ebay for 15.00

Yes, you will need to remove the water pump to do the Opti.
If you pull the outside bolt on the right it will drain the coolant out of the top side of the motor and out of the pump.
This way you don't wash down your Opti with coolant.
