Question about Cutouts

no I have it now just get one off summit for like $40 you just need a 3" one and have a shop weld it in and your all set, then down the road you can spend the extra cash and get an electric plate for around $140 and be all set.

I recommend DMH if you're going with an electric cutout valve. I had a DMH on my car.

You can also get low-profile ones if you contact them directly.

I know what a cutout is but what the hell is the purpose? Please somebody explain this to me. (Not trying to hijack the thread here)

Besides making your car loud you can also gain some hp. I still have the stock catback on my car (very restrictive) so I was able to pick up 20rwhp on a mustang dyno with my cut-out open. I also gain 1-2 tenths in the quarter mile.

My car is cammed with long tubes though so I wouldn't expect the same results if your car is stock.

Mr Muffler at 23 and Van Dyke. I took Red Alert there to have my exhaust straightened and have my corsa clones welded on. I can't remember what price he gave me... I want to say like 50 bucks or something. I couldn't believe how cheap it was.

And guys, let's not forget that this is a FOR SALE thread that we're all posting in. Hence, let's give some common courtesy of not recommending all these different people to purchase cutouts from when the original poster on this thread has one for sale.

I completely agree.

I was on Woodward sitting at a light and some guy (probably mid 40s) pulled up next to me in a Buick (not an old one, just your regular usually old-people Buick) and since it was summer, we had our windows down. He yelled over to me telling me that I had a really nice car, and such and such, and then I flipped the cutout open and he just got the biggest smile and got that laugh you get when something is just so cool. He said that it was the coolest thing ever.

But yeah, using it the last few weeks of school was awesome. Talk about a head turner...especially when you're deafening them too.

Last day of school I was gonna do a burnout in the parking lot, but there were cop cars there (our school sucked like that, not a bad school/area, just cops hung out there), so I decided it wouldn't be the best idea...I flipped open the cutout and I nailed it once I got out of the parking lot onto the main road. I didn't give a shit there was a cop right near the corner of the lot and the road, but that smile that I got from it was awesome - and I bet everyone heard it from the parking lot.


Hell, even my nearly stock 305 sounded great with one (Note: Don't mind the one-tire fire, my posi was just starting to go out)

I don't know if I told you but your prob gonna have to buy a Flowmaster merge and a few bends to make this exhaust work. Shouldn't be more than about $75 all together installed tho.
