  • LT1 EGR Tube

Alright guys i have a plugged up EGR tube and its a pain in the rear to get to. I know theres two bolts out of the back of the intake and the tube runs to the passanger side of the exhaust manifold.

Mine is plugged up and keeps throwing the check engine light. Anyone ever pull this tube on the car? Any help would be appreciated! I dont want to get half way into this project and screw something up!

It's not to hard I've done it I'm thinking about pulling mine off and capping it all off.

It's a little hard to get to, but with patience you can do it without too much blood.

I blocked mine off, you'll get a SES light if you do that though.

edit: I still have all the old parts if you need a new valve or tube.

I plan to block mine off before I even install the LT1.

Am I going to see any real big gains with blocking it off or would it be just as easy to clean the tube and put it back on until i plan on having the motor completely redone?

I'd block it off, a cooler running motor is a better performing motor i noticed some better throttle response when i did my TB bypass and Brian said he noticed some gains when he blocked off his EGR im planning on doing that in the spring its to cold to even do this in the garage right now lol

Well, EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Re- Circulation. Essentially cycles some exhaust back up into the intake for re- burning to get a cleaner burning car. This is good for the environment, but you can imagine that it would be bad for performance, since there is almost no oxygen left in the exhaust.

I would just plug them off, but like said it will result in a check engine light, but it can be tuned out. You could either make your own block off plates or buy a set off ebay for pretty cheap. If you do decide to keep the EGR tube, i have a perfect tube you can have, just pay shipping which wouldnt be much

20$ ebay! lived with the ses light until I got my first tune. Much better than pissing with EGR problems.

plug it up, you can make your own block off plates using the gasket as a template. and then just plug the manifold up with whatever you can find.
