Its a bolt on... It shouldn't take you more than an hour. maybe 2 if your picky about aligning it and what not.

            Is it a bolt on?

Well, welding is usually preferred, and that's what I was going by.

You dont need a welder. Its a bolt on exhaust system. Couple of hours at the most for install.

Hardest part is going to be unbolting it from the Cat or Y pipe(can't remember how LT1's are set up). Grab your Sawzall and chop the old one out unless you REALLY want to torture yourself and drop the rear to pull it out in one piece. I was gonna try this on my V6 and after some twisting I realized it wasn't going to happen so I just cut the crap out of it and trashed the old system. While you can weld a cat back, they're designed to use clamps. I've only ever used clamps on any of the systems I've ever put on. If you want it to look nicer, you can buy the stainless band clamps instead of the guilliotine U bolt clamps.

                  Really?

                  Wow, that's nice to know.

For some reason, I always thought it was better to weld them.

I'd never weld a cat-back system on.....Like Wade said..get yourself some SS band clamps with the pre-formed steps in them....they are the way to fly. They will not distort the pipe and provide a leak-free union.

I will weld mine when I'm finally happy with it just because then you'll never have leaks and the damn clamps always crush the pipe so its a ***** to take off anyways.
