  • ?? on header install

i work 7 days a week and have limited time to work on my car.
i was wondering how long it would take to put pacesetter headers on my lt1 camaro. i no i cant get my whole exhaust done but its a short ride to work and open headers would be fun for a little drive.

i just need a rough estimate so i can plan this out. i no running into problems causes draw backs but i can just hope it goes semi-smooth

how rusty are your bolts? You break a bolt and it turns an hour job into a lot more than that. That'll be your biggest hurdle, that and getting the new headers where they need to be.

start soaking your bolts with PB blaster now. Not WD40 or anything like that, PB blaster.

Also if you want it to go smoothly I recommend unmounting one side of the engine at a time and tipping it. That will give you plenty of room to slide the header right into place without scratching your coating all up.

If you would like a preview of what youre in for check out my pictures. ignore the first 3 or so:

it also depends on the design of the header and how easy you can access the bolts. it took me 5 hours to do the passenger side of a 93 TA

I forgot the spark plugs were probably a issue too, along with the surrounding parts in the bay because i know it takes Icepick quite awhile with his LT1.

if I would have known about & unbolting a motor mount & tipping the engine, it would have only taken a few hours. make sure you have gaskets, bolts, plugs & wires too (takes 20 min instead of a hour or two when the exhaust is off)

start soaking the bolts like joel said
