as of right now i have an magnaflow muffler and it sounds alright, i want it to be louder, last week i almost got my cats cut of but was concerned with my car running rich and the dummy check engine light coming on, i had cut the cat off on my 98 durango and didnt have any problems with it except the check engine light and running a lil rich, if anyone has some suggestions for me they would greatly be appreciated my options are limited right now beacuse im tight on money right now

Best way to get it louder is a cutout, unless you got the cash for headers and a off road y-pipe then it'll be louder too. If you can, get an electric cutout so you can change from loud to quiet with a switch, otherwise the other cutout will require you to go underneath the car to remove the plate.Doing less with more

yea...cutout would work. but im pretty sure in our LS1 cars the O2 sensor is in front of the car...so if you gut the cat's or take 'em out whatever...it shouldn't mess up your check engine light or anything....i could be wrong but no cats makes the car a lil more smokey1998 Camaro SS Bullseye Turbo

well I think if you removed the cats you'd need O2 simulators for teh rear otherwise you'll throw an SES code, but I don't think it'd affect performance. I dunno I'd just do a cutout before the catback until you can buy a nice set of longtubes.Doing less with more

Well a cutout is a piece you weld in in place of a piece of pipe, usually in the I pipe before the muffler if only using one or behind teh headers with two. In your case I'd get one electric cutout from QTP or a manual from jegs or summit. You get that put in then you can open it up to bypass the muffler, like running a straight y-pipe and therefor pick up a couple ponies and its louder as well. I have the SLP loudmouth catback which is a hollow 3.5" piece of pipe as a muffler so it'd probably sound similar and let me tell you its beautiful.Doing less with more

Yeah I personally wouldn't waste my money of a manual one because you have to get under the car everytime you wanna change it, there just cheaper but I'd say get the electric cutout and you'll be happy.Doing less with more

I was thinking of an electric cutout, but would it actually help the power of my V6?Nick H.
