JAAM Ram Air Mod update

I just washed my car and had the front end facing downhill to avoid getting water in the snorkels. After I was done, dried, etc I ran it down the street.. The car misfired so bad I couldn't believe it, no power, backfires, I was like WTF!! After about a minute or so it went away and the car runs great.. My only guess is with the baffles removed enough water got in there to screw up the motor for a few, also possibly some water came in through the bottom where the plate is.. Just thought I'd give ya a heads up(in case you plan to purchase a kit), cause I washed my car a few weeks ago and the same thing happened.. Their website claims you can drive in the rain with their kit and baffles removed. After my experience, just washing the car, I beg to differ.. On a positive note I read a few threads where guys picked up 3/10ths and 2 MPH in the 1/4 with the JAAM mod..

Really doesn't matter what filter you have. Engines suck in air - and water.

That's why I'm really hesitant to modify my stock air box (it's already "ram-air" like) - I drive it all the time, and don't need it to run bad.

Guess from now on I'll have to open the hood and make sure the snorkels don't have any water in them before I drive it..

K&n have bigger "pores"
The oil fills them in to aid in filtering.
I still run a factory filter. It has gotten damp but haven't had any issues.
I tried a K&N but didn't like it.
The water might be washing the oil out and getting in the maf. There are factory TSB 's about using "oiled" filters

I love my K&N filters (I love having 2).

But when you're washing it - try stuffing some towels in the snorkels.

the only time mine got really wet was trailering the car to Stanton in a rain storm. The filter got soaked.

Trust me, it doesn't get driven in the rain or snow.. Sunny days only, I don't even drive it if there's a chance of rain..lol Wondering if I have an electrical issue or if maybe my cracked header collector(which will get welded as soon as I can drive it legally) is causing the miss.. It's just wierd that both times it happened was after I washed it..

Sorry, forgot to update this.. Pretty sure I just had water in the fuel.. Filled it before winter, but after being in the shop only had a 1/4 tank left when they brought it back.. So it sat for over 2 months with a 1/4 tank.. Haven't had any issues since I filled up.. Beat the shit out of it yesterday, ran great!!
