  • Question about Header Components

So I have dibs on a set of Silver Pacesetters for $75+shipping used. Unfortunately the sale does not inlclude any of the mounting hardware, gaskets, or the y-pipe. What I need to know is how much am I looking at spending to get these components? Where is the best place to get them? Also, is this price fair for just the headers of should I offer him less?

    abbott gaskets $35 abbottracingheads.com
    grade 8 bolts $12 hardware
ypipe $??? Depends on the exhaust shop labor rates

So an exhaust shop should be able to hook me up with a y-pipe?

Also, would you pay $75 + shipping for these?

I would say it will be about $100 to have a Ypipe done at an exhaust shop

No I do not think they are coated.
            Here is a pic...

Worth $75 bucks? I am going to try and see if I can't pick them up since the guy is in Ohio.

yea those are coated. The painted ones are black and would look like crap.

If you can get a shop to do a mandrel bent ypipe for $150 or less then yea it is a deal

I had purchased Pacesetter's for my old bird and I was not happy with them. Maybe I had a bad set or they just half assed the 2.8l headers. There where weilds in the way of where you had to put bolts, plus I could not get them to stop leaking at th ypipe. Me personally I'll never buy PaceSetters again.

pacesetters are fine, a lot of people use pacesetters on the 4th gen cars. Only thing with the 3.8 headers is the egr connection is a little off making it harder to get the egr hose connected and sealed at first.

thats gotta be a 2.8l thing... pacesetters are by far the most popular header for LT1 cars, im very happy with mine.
