  • Teach Ben Intakes Thread

So here is the story. My friend helped me come up with ideas for my car. He mentioned that I should find a:

Custom sheet metal intake (Portmatched, gutted) drilled for N20 w/ MAF sensor Delete

What does this mean and does it make sense? Where can I get one of these? What can I expect to spend?

Jeezus, Ben, what are you trying to do? What is the goal? What do you want to achieve?

Its the ADHD I swear! LOL. Just looking over a list of parts for a Twin Turbo Intercooled setup. But Looking at the cost estimates it looks like this is the most inexpensive area to invest.

Just wait until I start asking about Heads. Something about Ported and Polished Promagnum rocker arms and better lift springs and swirl polished valves? Confused yet? I am.

Nope...you failed to answer the question...what do you want to achieve? What is the goal?

it will be more expensive having someone engineer a sheetmetal intake and weld one together than buying some ported stockers.

My new setup is using Holden upper and lower intakes, here is a pic:

should make for great direct port nitrous and add some low end torque Coming from australia

              Ha ha ha! (rolls eyes)

I keep watching Pinks and think that taking the bird to the track would be fun.

Yes I am looking to learn about increasing Power #'s.

My goal is to make a car that will confuse the s*it out of people. I want them to think that they got beaten in a race by a V8. Just to have me saunter by and tell them its a V6.

                Sure it's stealthy...

But still - there's a fine line between "Cool Sleeper" and "Stupidity". =P

You know...if you got a V8 with twin turbos, you could keep it looking sleeping and then kick some ass as well...

considering guys are running 11s and 12s on ported stockers and turbo and nitrous cars in 3.8s, you would be fine with ported stockers. It is the cheaper route for sure.

Run you are going for 10s and lower then you get into sheetmetal intakes and crazy holden intakes

There's a guy that runs at Martin that has a balanced and blueprinted 3.8 auto that's got full interior and he runs 12.50's with it NA. It's a sweet car and he picks up a few tenths every year. I think the first time I saw him he was running 12.9x's with it. I think last year he ran a best of 12.52 with it. I didn't make it to the track only twice this year and I didn't see him.

seen that car run as well, he has all the extras ripped out of it, just the engine sits in the engine bay. lol. He did have stock intake and tb on it, I am sure the intake has been ported though.

He was also running a stand alone PCM setup as well

The intake and heads were ported and polished. I believe it had a stock grind cam, or fairly close. I know he said they did the max that the rules would allow, which wasn't much for his class, just balance, blueprint, port and polish. I know he didn't have AC but I thought everything else was still there. I was amazed to find all the seats and carpet still in it. I didn't think he had a stand alone PCM though.

Is it possible to install a 3800 FWD if you have it balanced? Someone told me that but it sounds fishy.

the engine? Yea sure it is the same engine in the GTs other than intake and some of the accessories. Otherwise same block in both the GT and GTP cars. The gtp cars do come with lower compression pistons and rods. Nothing needs to be balanced differently
