Which Muffler?

Hey guys, I'm going to be getting a ton of extra cash in the next couple of weeks, and I'm getting sick of my Flowmaster 80 series on the Formy. I want to upgrade, and here's how. . . I want to replace the muffler with another single in/dual out muffler, but I'm going to have an electric cutout welded in between the Y-Pipe and the catalytic converter. . . Which muffler should I go with? I'm trying to keep the price down, since I'm also doing a full tune-up and replacing my slashed tire, but I'm thinking maybe $150 for the muffler and labor? Is that enough? I've heard good things about the Magnaflow mufflers, but do they have the kind I asked for?

Any input is welcome. . .

prolly gonna need more then 150 for muffler and labor to do it. i;d guess around 250 for a quality job

why not install yourself?

I cant weld but I use adapters and they work just fine IMO

my flowmaster was like $100. Im guessin they are all in the same ball park. I actually got it off amazon.com. they had the best price. I'm sure it wont be too much for install. I welded mine in myself and then went to muffler man and i needed the tubing from the muffler back(this is on an S10 btw) and that was like 5-6' of 2.5" tubing. So the grand total for the tubing and having it welded to the muffler and hung was only $60. So I can't Imagine yours being much over $25 just to cut out and weld in a new muffler as long as you supply the muffler to them. The cut-out, depending on new or used is prolly around $200 including the y-pipe for it. and they prolly wont charge much to throw that in the system too. I'd say the shop is gonna charge around $50-100. for the labor...Tom how much would your place charge for this kinda thing?

I bought a Hooker aerochamber muffler on ebay new for around $50 and it cost i think around $50-60 to install at a local shop.

I've got a local shop that I help advertise for, he's going to give me a deal. The price to install an electric cutout through him is only $35. I could always install the muffler myself, but I would rather take it somewhere where I would know it would be done right. . .

Also, I'm thinking of some new tips. . . How cool would 3" straight pipes look coming out the back from the muffler?

Depends on if they stick out past the bumper a bunch and if theyre just tube or stainless, chrome, whatever. Possibly cool, possibly really gay.

Mine aren't straight but damn close....

see now toms look pretty good, just a slight slash, mine on my car are straight cuts but it looks good with all 4 coming out

Really. . . I'll buy you a 30rack for that. . . plus the cost of parts. Could you weld in an electric cutout too? How much could you get me a cutout for? You've got me seriously contemplating a weekend trip. . .
