whats the best way to make a KILL SWITCH?

i am an electronics guru.. i can wire and rewire cars with my eye's shut!!!

there are a few ways to make a kill switch but first your car should be equipted with the vats system which is the black chip w/silver strip in the center of the key which works as a kill switch..everytime you put that key in the ignition it reads the resistance off of that key and alows the car to start..if the resistance is off the car goes no where.. if not equipted there are alot of cheaper ways than a security device..

1. you can hook up a keyless entry or use yours if equiped. and all you would need is a relay $4.00 at auto store so when you lock the doors it breaks the starter wire

2. relay neede as well... you can make it that you have to turn something on or hold a button down in order to start your car..example... turn on your rear window defroster to start car or hold down lock button to start or turn park lamps on to start..etc..

if you need a wire diagram for any of those let me know or if you need help doing it i can help or do it for you as well...

That would be a pretty tricky way of startin your car push and hold the defroster botton lol anyone tryin to move your car would be like AHHH WTF ITS NOT STARTIN

The Ravelco does not use any chips or circuits with-in itself. It is a 16 prong plug that when wired into your car has not been defeated or causes problems.

I go both ways. Ravelco is the ultimate solution. Relying on the VATS chip is not reliable at all. Everyone can find the 12 combinations of resistors used in the VATS chip. All it takes is a wire with the right resistor put into the ignition wire and tada the car will start without the chip. We rigged up my parent's remote start using that method... measured the resistance of the VATS chip in the key, then spliced the right resistance into the output signal wire that is for the Remote Start on the alarm. That way, when AND ONLY WHEN the car alarm's remote start button is pressed, regardless of the key being in the ignition, the car will start.

It'd be interesting to wire in the Ravelco anti-theft device with a push button so instead of using a key you just plug in th ravelco as your key.

To the original question....

Find yourself a master battery kill switch. $10 bucks on ebay, $50 bucks from Racer parts wholesale. Pick up two long battery cables from Autozone. There is a junction on the left side of the engine compartment (LS1 cars for sure) for jump charging cars. Place the switch inline with this circuit and mount the switch out of sight if you would like. Works like a charm.
