  • Factory Keyless Questions

My 1993 Firebird Formula came with a remote for the factory keyless entry, but it doesn't work. Also, the power door lock switch on the door panel doesn't lock or unlock the driver's side lock, only the pass. door lock. I replaced the remote batteries, and I can't figure out why it still won't work. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I looked up the RPO codes for the Formula, it does have Keyless Entry from the factory, but there is no factory alarm.

I'm taking the door apart this afternoon to try and figure out the problem, maybe I can fix the window so it will stop kicking itself off track everytime I roll it down. . . I'm going to get some new motors next week, I might find out that he keyless entry is just a fuse or something. Anybody have any experience with this at all?

Well, I fixed the remote myself, it turns out the battery connections just needed to be bent up so they could make contact, it works great now. The driver's side power door lock still doesn't work, but I should have that fixed Sunday afternoon or sometime this week. Probably just a weak connection or a cable that came unhooked.

Anybody know where i can get a pair of express-down window motors for my 'bird? Both motors need replacing, the driver's side is fried, the pass. side is getting really weak, so I figured I would change them both at the same time.

Since window motors are such a problem on Fbodies, many recommend going to your local parts store (Autozone, Murray's, etc) and get a lifetime warranty motor. So, next time they'll be free. There's also plenty on Ebay.

I've haven't had to change mine yet.

You mentioned "express". As far as I know, there isn't any special motor for express-down. The express part of the windows is actually controlled by a module under the dash(?)

Before you start on your motors, you should read up on them, and there's a reference to that in the tech section...
