Last year i cammed my 94 z28, replaced the opti with a delphi. This year its been misfiring at cruising speeds. It threw a code for high pulse resolution failure, then my radiator went bad. I replaced my water pump and radiator, didn't get Any coolant on the water pump, rolled the dice and thoroughly cleaned the cap, rotor and optical sensor. After that it drove smooth for about 2 miles and I'm in the same boat I was in, still misfires at cruising speeds. Occasionally hesitates hitting redline. Last year when it was hesitating at redline I replaced the coil and it fixed it. Before I go and blow $400+ on an opti I was just going to see if anyone has had a similar issues they resolved.

FYI: wires were replaced again for insurance, plugs are good, no vaccuum leaks, fuel pressure is at 44psi.

What kind of plugs, what kind of wires, and are the plugs gapped correctly? May sound like stupid questions but the LT1 ignition system is a fussy beast thats sensitive to resistance. New does not always mean right.

That being said... A high rpm miss usually points to opti.

If you do replace it, get a ACDelco. They are about 380 +75 core. Can't see that being the problem though..

Hate to say it but I am guessing its the opti. I had a chandler opti from eBay and it ran great with cheap wires.

I assume your tube is rock solid? Also, how are your O2 sensors?

It doesn't always miss on high RPM. But it always misfires when cruising. Plugs are AC delco iridium, gapped to stock specs,

Double check your plug wires for damage/arcing on headers?

I've checked damaged wires multiple times, even replaced them for shits and giggles.

High pulse resolution failure is opti failure. It is code 36. Is it still showing up?
