  • what does a diagnostic energy reserve module do?

i was leaving Lansing to drive my bird down to Pontiac last night for the Roadkill thing and right before we left i turned on a power inverter i have wired into the car so i could charge my phone while we drove. it came on for about a second and then turned off, ohh well i guess my phone will die, no biggy. as i start driving i notice that the Volt, speed, and tach gauges are not working. then i started to worry about it making it so i switched cars and brought my impala. when i got home today i started by checking fuses and i found that i popped the 3amp fuse for the "diagnostic energy reserve module". i'll go grab a new one tonight but i was just curious as to what this part does.

earlier this week i found out my radar detector (hardwired into the fuse box) doesn't work if i don't have the fuse in for the wipers lol, this car needs a front to back re-wire.

well that's strange, i guess we'll see if that fixes the gauges. the car has both airbags removed.

fuse 9 that runs a bunch of stuff including the cluster was blown too, replaced them both and everything works. no idea what tripped them. when i started it it kinda stumbled for about 10 seconds before the idle came up to the normal RPM.
