  • PCM question

Coming up soon I am swapping motors from a 95 camaro to a 97 trans am. Is there a difference between the PCMs in those years or can I leave each PCM in the car it came with. I plan on doing a tune when i am done.

It would.probably be best to leave the 97 pcm in the car. There may be some differences on the motor, but it would be best to deal with that by itself. The97 pcm may control other things that may be specific to your 97. Fuel tank evap. And speedo gearing for.instance. Then just tune.the pcm for.your mods and be done.

I think you have to use a obd1 pcm.

He can use whatever be wants but, he may have problems with connections and differences in emissions equipment. You can rewire conne tors and tune stuff out. But its just easier to swap the hard.parts out on the earlier motor for.the correct year pcm. There may also be differences in the C100 interface. The motor is the same. It may just have different sensors bolted to it.

sounds like my best bet would be to get both motors out, put them side by side and change whatever is different between the two.
