  • Shop Recommendations - Repair / replace Wire Harnesses (Mice Damage) Port Huron / Det

So I have not driven the Trans-Am much at all the last 4-5 years. It's mostly been parked due to many issues that prevented me from enjoying it.

I always have tried to take care of it but this year a F-ing mouse got into the engine compartment and did some major chewing.

I know it got under the fuse blocks under the hood and chewed off the starter wire and the headlamp wires (I fixed them). But it appears it also got in near the firewall on the passenger side (Blower motor full of the nest and glove box some signs of activity).

Now the power door locks will not work but you can hear them short as you drive down the road trying to lock / unlock.

I called the insurance company and they will cover damage from animals / rodents but the shop they recommended (dealer) has said that GM no longer makes the harnesses for the car and they will not repair them so they will write the car up as a total loss if I bring it in!

Obviously I would prefer not to have a salvage title (especially since I have over $10,000 into the new / built engine!)!

Does anyone have any recommendations for a shop in the Metro Detroit / Port Huron area that works on electrical that I could call to see if they would be willing to work with the insurance company to get the car fixed?

    Thanks!!!

Yup, I was gonna suggest Joe at Downriver Motorsports Wiring too! He did some work on my car in the past and is always neat & clean. Only issue is getting on his schedule.
