  • Kentucky fried turn signal

Greetings all! a few days ago my Driver side front turn signal went out. The bulb was fried and the socket was melted, it is unusable at this point. could this be a short? could this be sabotage? could this be the work of ninjas? well anyway, what can I do if the socket is fried?

Kip, sorry, there is nothing you can do. Bring me the car and I will dispose of it for you. Or for a small fortune I can come and collect it from you.

Or.... you could just wire in another socket and replace the bulb. but whatever, your choice......

          Common problem with these cars.

You can pull the pins and use a new housings, insert, and seal.

Mouser sells the stuff, I think the part numbers are:
          Socket - 12160395
          Insert - 12177163
          Seal - 12129909

Supposedly you can go to AutoZone and pick up the socket with pig tails, part #85881

Make sure to out dielectric grease on the connections before you plug the socket in this time.

Also check for cracks or a bad seal on the lens.
