  • Calling all tuners....

My pcm was tuned for the motor/cam I have with a TH400 behind it all. This year I switched to a 4L60E for an overdrive gear. I also went from a 4:10 to a 3:73 gear out back. I know in order for the tune to be optimal I need it updated, but my question was "Will the pcm even control the trans in the current state, or do the control functions get turned off when tuning for a non electronic trans?"

you will have to go into the tune and tune on the trans option. no segment need when it comes to a 4l60e. pretty easy to do. right now it should be set up as a stick or have non elect trans options selected. for the cost of the lisence I could switch for you.

LS1 cars might be different and I hope someone else can chime in here, but on the LT1 PCMs I am familiar with it would depend what the car was originally equipped with. An automatic PCM can be configured to do either, but a manual PCM can only be used with manual/mechanical transmissions.

Your correct on lt1 pcms. But in hp tuners theres built I. Support for switching. The only transmissions you cant adjust without a segment are the 4l80E and the gen 4 6 speed autos.

ls1 will do either. I have two flashes for mine depending what trans is in. When we put the auto in we reflashed as an stock auto car then redid the engine tune.
          Stock 4l60 tune will shift a 4l80.
The a6 requires separate credits for engine and trans

Ha ha ha forgot the 4l60E tune will shift the trans. You just dont get turbin speed is all. Good catch.

Where can I find someone that can tune my 96 TA PCM for some mods made to the car?
