• lt1 voltage issues.

Well to make things short. I can take my optima redtop battery
Thats been starting my z28 for over a year now with
No issues and put it into my 95 formula and it will
Register as dead? Makes the starter just click like
A low battery would when you try and start the car

Well i checked all the fuseable links in the engine bay
That run to that little red box. All were good. I cant check
The fuse box fuses in the dash because my car is pushed
Against the house so i can have room to work but
Im doubting its a fuse because its trying to crank
Jist not getting enough power to do so.

Anyone know what this could be?

From what ive looked up some are saying a bad starter
Can drain a battery very very quick, but what i dont understand
Is i can take the battery thats saying its dead out of the
Bird and put it into the z28 and it will start it.

Does anyone have an idea of what thos could be? I dont
Want to have to push start this car everytime i drive it.

Oh and when it does start i can let it idle and or drive it
And it will run all day long. But when i shut it down it
Will still say the battery is dead. Wtf!

Need some help guys. If someone can pass this onto
Another forum that would be great.

Im going to try and rebuild the starter and see what happens

Got a multimeter? Check for continuity from the battery to the starter, take the wires off the starter and clean the contacts, same for the starter ground. Having voltage at the battery doesn't mean its getting where it needs to. There are two voltages supplied to the starter: 12v straight from the battery, ans 12v switched by the ignition. Check them both. After that, I would vote for a bad starter. I'm not TOO far away, if it can wait until Saturday, I may be able to come down and help you with it. Wiring is kinda my thing.

Thanks Akodo but i figured it out, wiring is one of my loves lol. sman you were right. Bad engine ground. The ground to the
Block was bad. I grabbed a set of jumper cables and grounded
The neg on the battery to the alt bracket and it fired right up.

Thanks for the info and help offering guys. I wouldve figured
It out sooner but this heat gets to me.
