  • 1995 formula m6 vats issue?

    So i picked up a 95 formula 6 speed.

And i cant figure out why it will only sometimes
Try and start with the key. I can always start it
    By dumping the clutch.

So ive noticed my security light will stay on while
Driving. Ive also noticed that while i try to crank it
The security light will continuously flash.

And on the rare case it goes out. My starter will click
For a brief moment likey battery is too low to start it
And it will make the sec light flash again. And it wont
Start. But i can always get it to start with a push and
    Dump.

    And another thing.

I put my optima red top in it from my z28 and it acts
Like the battery is dead. Very low voltage reading on the
Cluster. Yet i know this battery is good because it starts
My z28 everyday... Something is taking alot of juice and i dont know where
To start. Could it be the vats system?

Think the next time its running im going to pull the battery term and
See if it stalls. If so its the alt causing the drain issues. (i hope)

Should i bypass the vats system?

Pulling a wire off the battery while engine is running is a terrible idea for anything with a ECM

I havent done it yet. So i probably wont. When the car is
Running it charges at 14 volts. So i think the alt is good.

But im just going to bypass the vats and see where that gets me

The chip in the key has little prongs and theyre worn flat.

OK so I read the ohms on my key I set the meter to 20k and it
Gave me a reading of 0.88 and from the tables I have (I'll list them below)
It looks like I have key #5 0.887

        #1= 0.403
        #2= 0.523
        #3= 0.681
        #4= 0.887
        #5= 1.130
        #6= 1.470
        #7= 1.870
        #8= 2.370
        #9= 3.010
        #10= 3.740
        #11= 4.750
        #12= 6.040
        #13= 7.500
        #14= 9.530
        #15= 11.800

So correction it looks like I have #4 not 5.

Or am I totally wrong? Whatever one you think it is let me know.
        And I'll try it out...

          re

I also picked up 1/4watt 5% tolerance resistors. Are these
          The right ones??
